About Harbour Island + Things to Do

harbour.jpg

Ah The Bahamas... Sugar sand beaches (unless you’re on a pink sand beach like us!), aqua blue water, vibrant green palm fronds listing in the wind… Idyllic, right? Idyllic is what to expect and idyllic is what you’ll get. However - it’s important to note that while the Bahamian islands are indeed little pieces of paradise, they are also rural islands. Rural as in broken, unpaved roads, tired yards, some dilapidated structures and, yes, chickens crossing the road. Literally. There are so many chickens!  Trust that we’re leading you to a gorgeous wonderland set to stain your memory with vibrant tranquility, but that the path (literally) getting there can feel a bit rustic.  The people are extremely friendly and the food will actually knock your socks off (it’s been known to happen, they use a lot of spice).

So pack your bags, grab a drink, and buckle up. It’s gonna be one heck of a trip!

Harbour Island itself, is only three miles long and half a mile wide, is a tropical oasis with miles of seemingly endless pink sand beaches. The small island sits just a mile off the larger and relatively untouched island of Eleuthera. Harbour Island’s hub, Dunmore Town, gained fame as the original capital of the Bahamas. Harbour Island boasts beautiful pink sand beaches, pastel painted cottages with picket fences, bougainvillea-draped door frames, boutique hotels and restaurants that rival the best found anywhere in the Caribbean!
